Rosaleen Alice Butler Peterson passed away peacefully on June 10, 2018 with her family by her side. Rosaleen had resided at Avantara (Billings Health and Rehab)since September 2007, where they gently guided her and family thru a long battle of Alzeimers/dementia.
Rosaleen was born to Presley Odis “P.O” Butler and Besse Myrtle Overcast Butler on June 22, 1919. She was the eldest of 5 children and was raised In Paradise Valley east of Chinook, attended North Fork School and graduated Chinook High School in 1937.
She married Floren “Jack” Peterson on January 8, 1939. They raised their family Robert D “ Bob” and Randall “Randy” south of Chinook on Clear Creek Rd near the banks of the Milk River. Here they raised sugar beets, alfalfa and cattle and forever dreaded the next flood. They were together for 61 ½ years.
Rosaleen had many titles in her life, daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother “Bamba”, great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. She loved spending time with her family and friends, gardening, baking, crocheting, doing ceramics, writing family histories, taking trips in their RV, scrapbooking for her grandchildren and in her “Spare Time” she hand quilted bed covers for every member of her family. She was a member of the Methodist Church and the owner of “Off Spring Shop”.
Preceded in death by her parents, brother Danny, husband Jack, son Bob D., and sisters Betty Nemetz and Emma Turner. They are now “Together Forever” laughing and reminiscing- Heaven just got a little noisier.
Rosaleen is survived by son Randy (Artha)- Billings, grandchildren: Dan (Sally)- Missoula, Roy (Kandi)-Juneau, Kim (Cory)- Virginia, , Ken-Billings, Bryan (Lana)-Laurel, and Loren (Keri)-Billings. At this time we would like to remember Floren (Jack) Peterson who was born Nov. 16, 1914 and passed away Aug. 19, 2001. Jack moved to the valley from Nebraska during the depression, married the “farmers daughter” and together they worked and farmed until health forced them to move to Billings in 1989.
We would also like to remember Robert “Bob” born Feb 18,1942 and passed Sept 13, 2014. Married to Linda Jensen they raised their children, Dan and Kim in Chinook, farmed with his parents and owned Peterson”s Department store.
