Nancy Dee Robinson passed away December 27, 2019. Nancy was born December 11, 1932 in Birney, MT to John Albert and Edith Alena (Miller) Holdbrook.  The family moved to a ranch on Tongue River, south of Miles City in 1943.

Nancy attended high school at Custer County High School graduating in 1951. She attended Eastern Montana College.

In 1954, Nancy Robinson took a teaching position at the Spring Creek School. One of the requirements of this job was to have community dances. Kathryn Pauley (best friend of Nancy’s) would come out to the school and help Nancy with these gatherings. This is where the best friends met the Robinson Twins, Jess and Jean.  They double dated quite often in the Light Blue Chevy car that Jess and Jean purchased together. They went to roping clubs on Sunday and rodeos.

Jess and Nancy were married August 30, 1954 in the St. Mary’s Episcopal church in Miles City.  Kathryn Robinson was maid of honor and Jean Robinson was the best man.

Jess and Nancy worked at the Robinson family ranch on the Mizpah until April 1st, 1958. At this time they moved to South Phillips County, near Zortman, Montana to the McChesney Ranch in which six of the Robinson brothers purchased and formed the Lazy J.D. Cattle Co. The original Lazy JD was split in 1993. In July of 2004 they bought a log home in Zortman, Montana to retire. In 2016 Nancy moved to Worden, Montana until her death.

Nancy was known for her many talents. She was a hard working, devoted ranch wife and mother. Nancy was proud of the ranch and the lifestyle she and Jess built. Jess and Nancy bought a house in Malta in 1973 so their 4 children could attend Malta Schools. During this time Nancy made some cherished friendships. There were many memories on their morning walks, bowling trips and just chatting on the phone. Nancy’s talents were many, she was an artist, a gardener, and an amazing quilter and seamstress.

Her survivors include her daughter Joan (Ted) Stewart, grandsons, Chris  (Jessica), great granddaughter Emilee, Sean (Jennifer), great grandson Zane, son Clyde (Iris) Robinson, granddaughters, Nikki, great granddaughter Lyndsy, Andrea (Clay) McCaffree, great grandson Rafe, and Lea (Joel) Johnson, son Jim (Lesley) Robinson, granddaughter Kirsty (John) Stewart, daughter Julie (Brian) Dandrea, granddaughters Brianne and Britan. One sister Carol (Steve) Wilcox. She was preceded in death by her husband Jess, parents John Albert and Edith Alena (Miller) Holdbrook, brothers John Willard, Ralph otherwise known as Bud, and Bob Holdbrook.

The family will receive friends and family 7pm Friday January 3, 2020 at the Wilderness Funeral Home in Malta. Funeral service will take place at 2 pm Saturday January 4, 2020 at the Wilderness Funeral Home in Malta.
