Barbara Ann Gardipee

Barbara Ann Gardipee, 45, passed away on May 18, 2019 at her home in Helena, Montana. Barb was born on June 18, 1973 at the old Fort Belknap Hospital.  At the age of five months, she was adopted by Christopher Gardipee Sr., and Barbara C (Snell) Gardipee.  She was raised in Hays and attended Mission Grade school then attended Hays- Lodgepole High Scholl graduating in 1992.  After graduating high school, Barb worked as a dispatcher at Fort Belknap Tribal Police Station and volunteered as an EMT with the Hays ambulance service and then became a certified EMT and continued working with the Fort Belknap Indian Health Service. She attended Fort Belknap College as it was called then, Alost completing her degree in Allied Health.

During her younger years, barb was lovingly raised and cared for by her parents and other siblings she traveled with them, sometimes staying with them in various locations in Montana During the summers. She loved fishing camping with her parents and helped her dad with his trapping and tanning hides. She would sometimes travel around with her brother Wade and her cousin Kelly who both preceded her in death.

Barb is survived by her loving daughter, Haeli Azalea Gardipee, brother Christopher (Myrna) Gardipee Jr., sisters Colleen Azalea Gardipee, Cindy (Harold) Hepper, Vicki (Tom) Jones, Ruby Yvette Snell, nieces and nephews that she was particularly close to growing up, Charles Mulluk Jr. Christina Jones, Dawn Jones, Damon Castillo Sr., biological mother Vivian Johnson, sisters Jolynn Wise Debbie Snell, Randi Snell, brothers Willie Quisno, Jacob Wise and Jason Wise, aunts Geraldine Doney, Rosemary Peak, Lois Snell, Norma Jean King, Marjorie Seaman, Ginny Cochran, Mary Ellen Snell, Arleata Snell, Donna First Raised, Vikki Johnson, Thea Kirkaldie, Robert Messerly, uncles Jim Firemoo, Ted Snell, Bennie Johnson, Elgin Johnson, Edgar Johnson Jr., and Stanley Johnson.  Barb had several people she considered her children. These are Tobias Jones, Zarek Jones, Aaralyn Walker, Simyra Walker, Tyea Doney, Moeika Shambo, Cassie Castillo, and Trista Essert.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tuffy and Buffy, biological father Doug Snell Sr., brothers Wade Gardipee, Doug Snell Jr., cousin Kelly Gardipee, aunts Debbie Snell, Bea Firemoon Ball, Abby Johnosn, and Mary Kay White, uncles George (chub) Snell Sr. and Doug Johnson.   

Funeral Services – May 23, 2019 6:00pm Wake, 7:00pm Rosary at Mission Rec Center Hays MT. Mass Friday May 24th 11:00am at St. Paul Mission Church Hays MT
